Integrating COIL in teacher training: An estimation of learners´ motivational attitudes

Collaborative Online International Learning experiences have gained popularity and presence in the last years, but motivational impact they on future Primary Education teachers field of teacher training education is to be researched. We present a quantitative study that tries estimate level motivation students are trilingual degree Basque Country. This examines confidence, attention, satisfaction relevance learners higher according Keller’s ARCS model motivation. It compares results obtained between taken part project, from now COIL, those did not opportunity take virtual exchange had develop project traditional way. also reflects opinions regarding general project. The involved 43 UPV/EHU (University Country) Masaryk University. data was collected through validated questionnaire IMMS created Google Forms. Key findings include this faculty driven intervention all dimensions, except Satisfaction, show significance results. Therefore, it confirmed dimensions Attention, Relevance, Confidence, as well overall score instrument (Global IMMS), significant differences two groups analyzed. exceptionality Satisfaction dimension very close rejection zone null hypothesis. helps us underline positive value implementation exchanges therefore concluded greater motivation, attitudes towards taking exchanges. These allow decisions with regard implementing these initial teachers, since has been direct implications for global learning engagement an effective pedagogical approach prepare cope requirements 21st century society has.
